Crypto Basics

If terms like "Blockchain," "NFT," and "Gas" sound like 'Star trek talk', don't worry. You don't need to be a crypto expert to use LMNT. You just need to understand a few basic tools.

Think of LMNT as an arcade, and crypto as the tokens you use to play the games. The Wallet (HashPack) Analogy: Your Toolbox + Bank Account. Your wallet is an app (like HashPack) that stores your digital stuff. Unlike a bank account, YOU are the only one with the keys. If you lose your keys, no one (not even LMNT) can help you. Rule: Keep your "Seed Phrase" (the 24 words) safe. It's the master key to your toolbox. ![[IMG-20251210192609932.png|400]] HBAR (Hedera Hashgraph) Analogy: Arcade Tokens or Filament. HBAR is the currency of the network we use. You need HBAR to buy things, and you need a tiny bit of it just to keep the lights on (like paying for electricity). Rule: Always keep ~5-10 HBAR in your wallet for "gas" fees (see below). Tokens & NFTs Analogy: A Digital Ticket or Access Pass. Forget about overpriced digital art. On LMNT, tokens are utility tools. They are the Permissions that grant you the right to print a specific model. When you buy a model, you receive a digital "ticket." Our secure system checks this ticket before it starts the printing process. Benefit: It's verifiable, immutable proof that you supported the designer and have the legal right to produce the object. Gas / Transaction Fees Analogy: The Postage Stamp. Every time you do something on the network (buy a model, authorize a print, send a payment), you pay a tiny fee to the network. Good News: On Hedera (our network), these fees are tiny—usually less than a penny ($0.01). Bad News:* You still need HBAR in your wallet to pay them. If you have 0 HBAR, you can't even authorize a free test print. Public Address (0.0.xxxx) Analogy: Your Email Address or Mailbox. This is safe to share! It's usually a number like 0.0.123456. People use this number to send you money or licenses. Private Key / Seed Phrase Analogy: The Combination to your Safe. NEVER SHARE THIS. If someone asks for your Private Key or Seed Phrase to "help" you or "fix" a transaction, they are trying to scam you. LMNT support will NEVER ask for this.

Summary: Get a Wallet. Put some HBAR in it. Make a purchase on the LMNT Marketplace (you get an NFT). Your printer uses the NFT to print.
